As the first Concert of 2023, we are delighted to present, direct from the Celtic
Connections Festival in Glasgow, Oregon Band, the Hackles. After the
unfortunate Covid interruption in 2021 and 2022, this is the first of two 2023
Concerts at Montrose Playhouse in continuation of the tradition of “Celtic
Connections almost by your Fireside” for Angus audiences.

The Hackles are now a major force on the Americana/Indie Folk circuit, on
account of their sumptuous vocal harmonies, great songwriting skills and
guitar, fiddle and banjo accompaniments. RnR Magazine described their
second Album as “magnificent”, whilst The Daily Express called it “gorgeous
Americana.”

The Hackles were originally a Duo of Kati Claborn and Luke Ydstie, both core
members of the band, Blind Pilot, and residents of Astoria, Oregon, the oldest
settlement, west of the Rocky Mountains, on the big Columbia River. In
Astoria, they perform on a regular basis with fellow resident, American Folk
Hero, Michael Hurley. The Band is now a trio, having been augmented on
fiddle by Halli Anderson of the Indie Folk outfit, River Whyless.

Admission is £12, payable at the Door, or tickets can be reserved by emailing
